The Freeman Files Cold Case Mysteries 3 Books Collection Set by Ted Tayler (Last Orders, Deadly Formula, Final Deal)
Last Orders
New team, old case, the clock is ticking for justice.
In October 2003, barmaid Trudi Villiers was murdered on her walk home, shattering her tight-knit Wiltshire community. The investigation’s failures led to the wrongful imprisonment of an innocent man, leaving her true killer free.
Now Gus Freeman’s newly formed Crime Review Team reopens the case, and immediately uncovers disturbing flaws. Evidence was cherry-picked, crucial facts misplaced, and DS Neil Davis’s own father, a sergeant on the original inquiry, played a part in the wrongful conviction. For Gus, it’s clear: finding Trudi’s killer also means exposing uncomfortable truths about the police itself.
Deadly Formula
One bullet, countless secrets, and a formula that could destroy everything.
In 2004, research scientist Dr Ian McGuire was gunned down in his kitchen. Fourteen years later, Gus Freeman’s team reopen the cold case. McGuire’s tangled personal life raises troubling questions, but fresh lines of inquiry point to something darker: a missing formula for a powerful drug, links to local gang activity, and the possibility that McGuire’s murder was meant to silence him.
As the investigation deepens, a second unsolved killing, that of former officer Terry Davis, begins to intertwine with the case, exposing corruption that others would kill to protect.
Final Deal
A team member kidnapped and a cold case that refuses to stay buried.
When DI Suzie Ferris disappears after attending a routine cyber-crime course, Gus Freeman and his Crime Review Team are plunged into their most personal and dangerous case yet. The evidence points to Ricky Gardiner, a ruthless former undercover officer who has resurfaced with a vendetta, and Suzie is his bargaining chip.
Their search collides with the cold-case murder of Dennis Gates, a car dealer gunned down eight years earlier. The supposed gangland hit begins to look amateurish, and what seemed like a contract killing now looks like a murder with personal roots, and a secret someone has worked hard to keep hidden.
